2-Year-Old Gets The Coolest Birthday Surprise From Mailman, Dubs Him “Honorary Letter Carrier.”

We all have someone we look up to in our lives. For two-year-old Colby from Simsbury, Connecticut, that person is his local mail carrier, known to residents as “Mailman Mike.” From the toddler’s perspective, Mike has just about the coolest job in the world. Jessica Bergman, Colby’s mom, says that the little guy not only idolizes the postman, but the entire USPS.
“He looks forward to seeing him all the time. We look for mail trucks in the wild,” she told Today.

When Mailman Mike found out that Colby’s second birthday was coming up, he decided to do something special for his biggest fan. With some help from his fellow post office employees, the mail carrier organized a parade of mail trucks on the toddler’s block to surprise him! The lineup also included firetrucks, garbage trucks, a police car, and a friendly pooch that came out to meet the little boy.
That wasn’t all! Colby also received a gift from the post office: a Cozy Coupe car decorated to look like a mail truck. This would come in handy when he received his second present: a certificate making him an “honorary letter carrier.”
Jessica recorded the surprise parade and posted a video to TikTok, where it went viral.
“I am blown away,” the mom wrote in her caption. “Our son is obsessed with mail trucks and our mail carrier, Mailman Mike. For his birthday, the Simsbury United States Postal Service organized a truck parade in front of our house. So many workers turned up to help us celebrate.”
Everyone in the comments section gushed over the sweet birthday surprise, praising Mailman Mike’s thoughtfulness.
“Why am I crying? This is the sweetest thing ever!!!!” wrote one user, while another added, “Imagine how much better this world would be if everybody treated each other this way.”
