A Newfoundland dog has been hailed as a hero for its pivotal role in rescuing a distressed Golden Retriever from the waters of Douglas Inner Harbor.

The Douglas Coastguard Rescue Team recounted a remarkable tale, describing how a passerby encountered a distressed Newfoundland dog at the Tongue in Douglas Inner Harbor. Recognizing the urgency in the Newfoundland's behavior, the individual soon noticed the cause of the dog's distress—a struggling white Retriever in the water. Reacting swiftly, the bystander promptly alerted the Coastguard and took immediate action. "The individual quickly raised the alarm for the Coastguard to be notified, then went down onto a boat in the Harbor and managed to reach the dog as it was drifting down the river's current. At this point, the dog was beginning to submerge, so it was fortunate to be rescued," shared the Douglas Coastguard

The Coastguard, upon arrival, seamlessly continued the rescue operation, ensuring the safety of both the rescued dog and the courageous bystander.
Following the successful rescue, both dogs were reunited at the Coastguard station while awaiting the arrival of the authorities to locate their owner.
