BMW Recalls Over 394,000 Vehicles for Airbag Safety Concerns
BMW of North America is recalling more than 394,000 vehicles due to a serious issue with airbag inflators that could explode, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
According to the NHTSA, an explosion could result in "sharp metal fragments striking the driver" and passengers, potentially causing injury or death.
The recall affects certain 2006-2012 3 Series Sportswagons, 2006-2011 3 Series Sedans, and 2009-2011 3 Series Sedans. BMW service centers will inspect and replace the airbag module if needed.

In March, Chrysler issued a recall for over 280,000 vehicles due to a manufacturing defect in the right and left airbag inflators, which could potentially cause them to rupture, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The NHTSA warned that a ruptured inflator could send sharp metal fragments into the vehicle's cabin, posing a serious risk of injury or death to occupants.
The recall affected certain 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 models, the NHTSA said.
