12-year-old boy’s dream become reality after he gets adopted by his best friend’s family – Blessings, Andrew!

Growing up in a beautiful, warm and loving family is a blessing that many people aren't able to experience and for some of those who can, they often take it for granted. It can be easy to assume that everyone feels the same level of care and affection from their parents. However for some children, that's far from the reality they face.

I remember growing up, it took me a while to realize that not every child was fortunate enough to have parents who loved and cherished them unconditionally. It's a harsh reality, but one that we can't ignore.

Take Andrew, for example, he's a 12-year-old boy from Nashville, Tennessee, who had spent half of his life in foster care. Can you even imagine what that must be like? Going through life without the warmth and comfort of a stable home and a family to call your own?

But then, 2020 brought a much-needed ray of hope into Andrew's life. Reports reveal that he was finally adopted, and his life changed for the better. It's a heartwarming reminder that there's always hope for a better tomorrow, no matter how bleak things may seem.

Andrew was already fast friends with another boy called Joc Gill, from the family who has served as his foster family for a few years.

The two boys love to play video games and eat pop-tarts together, and it’s clear that they’re fast friends. Joc’s parents, Kevin and Dominique Gill, meanwhile, have always loved having Andrew around.

You can imagine Andrew’s delight and surprise, then, when one day he was out walking in the park with Molly Parker (who works at Youth Villages) and was met with the news that the Gills were officially adopting him.

“I just turned around the corner and saw everybody,” Andrew said.

“They asked ‘will you?’ and I said ‘yeah!'”

Figures state that there are more than 8,000 children in the Tennessee Foster System waiting for their forever home. Fortunately, there’s one less due to the kindness and compassion of the Gills.

“This is my brother, Joc,” said Andrew.
