Urgent Recall: 99,000 Volkswagens Recalled Due to Risk of Doors Opening While Driving
By waterbaby

Volkswagen has issued a recall for over 99,000 vehicles due to a serious safety concern where doors may unexpectedly open while driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects certain 2021 to 2024 ID.4 models.
The issue stems from a potential leak in the door handle mechanism, which may allow water to reach the circuit board assembly, increasing the risk of the doors opening unintentionally.

Volkswagen dealers will inspect the door handles and replace them if necessary. Additionally, a software update will be applied to the affected vehicles. All repairs associated with this recall will be provided at no cost to the vehicle owners.
Owners will receive official notification letters after November 1st. In the meantime, they can contact Volkswagen directly at 800-893-5298. The recall reference number is 57J9.
This latest recall expands on two previous ones — 23V-312 and 23V-213. Vehicles that were repaired under those recalls will need to undergo repairs again, according to the NHTSA.
