Huge Family “Adopts” Lonely 82-Year-Old Neighbor As Their Grandfather
By JamieFlower

So, the Carabellos pack up and move their big crew into this fresh house in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. And man, they're all wondering, "How's this gonna go down with the neighbors?" But guess what? Life had a surprise in store. Not only did they hit it off with the folks around, they actually found themselves a new family member.
Across the street lived Paul Callahan, an 82-year-old widower, and he was all in to lend these new homeowners a hand with any fix-ups their place needed. Fast forward a bit, and he's like a permanent part of their lives.
It's like this, Sharaine, the mom of the Carabello kids, spills the beans to USA Today, saying, "The kids practically run to him like he's their grandpa. Paul's like family now, not just a neighbor."

Not only does Paul drop by to help out with the kids on a near-daily basis, he’s also welcome at every gathering and celebration. He says he’s glad that he reached out and got to know his neighbors.
“If you don’t take a chance, you may miss a friend,” Paul said.
