Deputy Joshua Fiorelli, a law enforcement officer in Florida, has gained a significant following on social media due to his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public. However, his responsibility extends beyond just humans; he also looks out for dogs.
A viral photo depicts Deputy Fiorelli comforting a distressed dog lying on the grass, covered with the officer's jacket. The dog had been hit by a car, and the deputy provided comfort and warmth while waiting for rescue personnel to arrive.

The heartwarming gesture of Deputy Fiorelli towards the poor dog touched the heart of a passerby. Carlos Irizzy was spending time with his pet on the road of Royal Palm Drive in Kissimmee when he saw Deputy Fiorelli selflessly giving up his jacket for the dog’s comfort.
Being a dog lover himself, Carlos’ heart was moved by the sight so he decided to take a photo of the unsuspecting Deputy Fiorelli and the dog.
“This is something you don’t see every day.” Carlos Irizzy shared on an interview.
For Deputy Fiorelli, he was simply doing what is right, but for the other people, especially for animal lovers out there, what he did is nothing short of heroic.
“It was cold out. She was wet. She didn’t have anyone there so I dedicated to be that person.”

Deputy Fiorelli has his undivided attention to the injured and distressed dog that he was oblivious of the bystander who was watching them.
He couldn’t have the heart to leave the dog given her condition, so he decided to wait with her until help arrives. While doing this, the selfless and kind police officer also lent his jacket to keep the dog safe and warm.
“I know a lot of dogs become defensive when they get hurt. She was not defensive at all.” Deputy Fiorelli added.
The dog was left with a dislocated leg after the accident. As of now, the rescued dog is recovering and healing at Osceola County Animal Shelter. The shelter has been monitoring her condition and is giving her medications to ease her pain.
“It’s out of joint, her hip joint, so she’ll have surgery on Thursday to have that repaire.” The Shelter Director, Kim Staton, shared on an interview with Fox 13.

Although the surgery and injuries suffered by the unfortunate dog may result in other complications, the veterinarians are optimistic about her recovery. The dog is presently in stable condition and is eating well.
Meanwhile, the local shelter is attempting to locate the dog's owner. However, the rescued dog was not wearing a collar or microchip, making it difficult for the shelter to identify her owner.
Deputy Fiorelli hopes that the owner will visit the shelter and be reunited with the dog. He also advises the owner to obtain a collar or microchip to ensure the dog's safety and avoid future instances of being lost.

“Keep an eye on them. They may only be a part of your life, but you’re their whole life. ” He advised.
Indeed, a dogs’ life is short. Approximately, dogs can live between 10 to 13 years old. And the time we spend together in between these years is what makes their life memorable. May we spend the most out of our limited time together to the fullest!
