Gumby, a cute cat born with severely deformed legs won't let anything hold him back — now he has a forever home
By MarissaRocks

All shelter animals should be able to live in a beautiful, warm and loving home, no matter what they look like. Animals with differences and disabilities need families who will love them just the way they are.
That was the case for Gumby, a shelter cat born with severely deformed back legs who was recently placed up for adoption — and now has a loving new home.
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell took in Gumby as part of a group of cats taken in from an overcrowded shelter in Texas, the shelter explained on Facebook. But Gumby stood out, as he had severely deformed back legs.

“We’ve never seen a cat quite like him,” MSPCA-Angell wrote. But despite the unusual deformity, Gumby doesn’t let anything hold him back. He’s learned to get around, can walk and use the litter box, and acts like any normal kitten.
The shelter said their veterinarians were exploring pathways to manage his condition, but since Gumby is comfortable and can function on his own no immediate action is needed.
“He is able to get around and he acts like a regular kitten – he loves attention and can be a little mischievous,” MSPCA-Angell wrote. “He doesn’t let anything get him down!”
Gumby was placed up for adoption, with the shelter looking for a family who can accommodate his special needs, ideally with a close relationship with a veterinarian.

“Danielle said she was drawn to Gumby because she has a lot of experience living with cats that have special needs and knows how to make sure that Gumby is living his best possible life,” Sara-Rose told We Love Animals.
“As you know, Gumby needs a specific home environment to thrive, and Danielle can absolutely provide that for him. We’re so excited that he found such a perfect match!”
