What do you do if you’re in a rush to get to work and really need a quick cup of coffee? If your favorite coffee shop does not have a drive-thru, then you have to pray that you’ll get a parking spot close to the door so you can be in and out in a matter of minutes. But you’re not the only one looking to get a coffee boost during the morning commute – and that means parking spots are sparse.
One man saw the consequences of that every day. Because a neighborhood Starbucks refused to invest in a proper parking lot, it forced its customers to find street parking. And on such a small road, there was little to go around. That’s why Starbucks customers often double-parked in front of a church driveway. They figured that it wasn’t being used every single morning so they could block the entranceway to the house of God.
Because these coffee drinkers refused to respect the neighborhood, one rock and roll artist decided to get revenge on them. Dale Tippett Jr. lives in Chicago and could not believe how often people blocked the church driveway because they wanted coffee. It was as if their caffeine addiction was more important than respecting other people’s property.
Because the disrespect happened, again and again, Tippett Jr. decided it was high time that he taught the yuppies a lesson. So the next time he caught a vehicle blocking the driveway, he took a chair out and parked his backside right in front of the vehicle. The SUV would have no hope of getting out of the spot unless they had the courage to confront the rock and roll artist face-to-face. And because Tippet Jr. was a tough-looking guy, the guy with the expensive Starbucks coffee was unwilling to do it.
Although Tippett Jr. wants to teach the double-parker a lesson, he doesn’t want to put himself out while he does it. He brings his chair, a book, and a pack of cigarettes to wait out the offender. It would have been ironic if he brought a cup of coffee as well.
When the time comes for the driver to come back and get on his way to work, we see him leaving the Starbucks with his important coffee in hand. And you can imagine how much suffering the man must have gone through realizing that a rock and roll artist was sitting in front of his car just waiting to start something.
The driver chooses to ignore Tippet Jr. in his chair. He enters the vehicle and sits behind the wheel as the rock artist reads his book, which looks mighty interesting.
Eventually, the driver or “Turkey-dog” as Tippett Jr. dubbed him in the video, asks the rocker if he plans to stay in his spot. Tippett Jr. responds with an easy “I’ll be just a minute.”
You shouldn’t use your car to inconvenience other people. If this Starbucks drinker had not blocked a church driveway, Tippett Jr. would never have had to grab his chair and teach him a lesson. When you forget that you’re not the only person who matters in the world, karma finds a way to remind you.
