The Farmer’s Almanac Has Been Released, Giving Predictions Showing How Bad Winter 2018 Will Be

The summer time is ending so now comes the time where you start to think about the fall and the cold of the winter. If you live in an area where you have a distinct winter complete with snow and cold weather, then you may want to hear about what the Farmers’ Almanac is predicting for the winter of 2018, and it isn’t looking pretty if you are a warm weather lover.

Cold and wet are the two words that seem to represent what winter 2018 has in store for us. The forecast is showing more “normal” temperatures compared to last winter, but there is expected to be a rise in precipiation. Those areas that are most likely to be affected by more precipitation are the areas between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

There are some highlighted dates that stand out amongst the rest for major snowfall and rain, so check these out if you are planning any big winter trips…

January 20-23

February 4-7

February 16-19

March 1-3

March 20-23

And for those of you who want to plan a getaway to a warmer climate, Florida may not be your best choice, as the Gulf Coast is preparing to be exceptionally chilly with more than average precipitation. Sounds like it won’t benefit you all that much to get away and go down south. Maybe it’s best to postpone your Disney vacation until late spring or next fall.

And the not-so-great news keeps on coming, as the middle of the country isn’t expected to be much better than the northeast and the south. The Farmers’ Almanac predicts the states that lie east of the Rocky Mountains and west of the Mississippi River will have quite the variety of weather changes including periods of balmy and warm weather with some spells involving blustery climates.

The good news for those who live west of the Rocky Mountains is that a dry winter is in store for you. As far as precipitation and temperatures are concerned, the weather should be fairly normal.

So, if you really want to get away for some warmth and sunshine, your best bet is to head to California. Not much of a shocker there considering, “the Golden State,” tends to be fairly tame all year round when it comes to weather. And precipitation is a rarity in the southern region of the west coast state.

Some live and breathe the predictions of the Farmers’ Almanac while others take it with a grain of salt, so it’s up to you to handle your travel plans with care. With September approaching it may be time to start putting away the summer clothes and taking out those cozy sweaters in preparation for fall. Some people get absolutely depressed when the warmer months disappear and trickle into the frigid months, and others look forward to the crisp and fresh air of the fall and the winter sports that are popular December through March. Living in an area with four seasons certainly keeps life interesting and you can never accuse the weather of being boring.
