She walks into her yard and sees 2 adorable kittens - When She Gets Closer, She Realizes There's A Problem
In Sydney, Australia, a woman came outside and headed into her yard and witnessed something adorable. Below her were two adorable 3-week-old kittens who were attached to one another like glue, and came into the yard to get food and shelter. When she got closer to them, she noticed something very special.
The 3 week old baby kittens had abnormalities with their eyes which required corrective surgery. The woman couldn't afford such a surgery so she went to the community for help. She went to shelters all around and no one would help, until one shelter extended their resources and heart to these kittens.
Inner City Strays, a local shelter, took the kittens in and named them Stevie and Iaasic. Stevie and Iaasic were special cases for this amazing and selfless shelter, who was already at max capacity but made exceptions due to the kittens’ dire need for attention.
“Both boys have been born with deformed eyelids and a condition where the eyelashes turn inwards and rub on the pupils,” the rescue said. After all of the damage in the first three weeks of their lives, their optical condition was very poor but surprisingly their overall health was extremely good.
Stevie had ulcers on his eyes and Iaasic was completely blind, but the two were extremely energetic and open to trusting and loving his rescuers. Their surgeries were extremely high risk, putting them in a position suffer serious and lethal infections. The vets took special care to remove the eyes, and place a new eyelid over top of Iaasic’s good eye so that he would regain his vision over time.
24 hours later, the kittens were playing as if they had never lost their vision at all. The brothers were healthy and by each other’s side, offering support and love as they regain their strength as a team.
When Stevie, who is totally blind, becomes confused or lost he simply cries out for his partially blind brother who calms him down and helps him regain his bearings. The two are now forever connected, and recently were placed in the household of a loving couple who spoil them completely. Amazingly, the two are able to play despite their extremely limited, or nonexistent in Stevie’s case, vision. Through senses other than sight, they interact and chase each other as if they could see one another. It is truly an amazing thing to behold.
We are extremely happy for the amazing kittens and how they have grown to live despite their wounds and disabilities. It shows that with a little help, and a deep connection, there is no limit to what is possible.
