Gardener Shows Simple Trick To Kill Weeds Fast - Cheap And Effective

The buzzing bees, the colorful scenery, and the gloriously warm weather - yes my friend, spring has arrived!
As they say, "April showers bring May flowers." But unfortunately, those light and enjoyable rainstorms also bring weeds, and lots of 'em. Ugh!
We can opt to do away with those uninvited guests with the store-bought chemical solutions. Or, we can choose a natural method - a method which is harmful to weeds, but harmless to you, your family, and your pets. We've got the safe suggestions...you make the choice that's right for you.
Read on to learn 10 simple and effective methods for ridding your yard of weeds, so you can get back to enjoying the more fun outdoor activities!

Turn Up The Heat
If those flourishing weeds are becoming just too much of an eyesore - this easy trick is certain to have them "in hot water!" Simply pour a pot of boiling water overtop your weeds, and watch them melt away before your eyes. Just like the witch in the Wizard Of Oz, this water trick will wilt those weeds instantly!

Belly Up!
Some adults may enjoy this beverage, but weeds sure don't! As it turns out, vodka and these pesky plants don't mix.
In a spray bottle combine 1 oz vodka, a few drops of liquid dish soap, and 2 cups of water. Spray the mixture onto the weeds until the liquid runs off the leaves. The alcohol will break down the protective waxy coating on the leaves, causing the plants to dry out in the sun's light.
Note - This method is only effective with weeds which grow in the direct sunlight.
Mulch Madness
Since weeds need light to grow, covering them with mulch is an effective way to eliminate this problem! You'll need a layer of mulch approximately 2 inches deep to work its magic on the weeds. However, be certain to keep the mulch away from your lawn - as grass is not a fan of mulch either!
Prevention Is Key
Corn gluten meal not only prevents weeds from growing, but once it breaks down it also provides your yard with nutritious nitrogen - something we call a win win!
This method does not work on already existing weeds, but if you plan ahead (pat yourself on the back for being a go-getter)...it will effectively deter new weeds from growing.
Salty Solution - Sweet Results
If you've got weeds, we've got the (salty) solution! Simply combine one cup of salt and two cups of water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Then, pour your weed-killing-concoction overtop those bothersome weeds. We become dehydrated with too much salt intake, and the same goes for plants!

Powdery Perfection
Baking soda is not only a must-have in the kitchen, but it's a must-have on the back patio as well! If you've got sidewalks and outdoor brick areas surrounding your home, weeds inevitably pop up.
Spread a few handfuls of baking soda on the cement near your "problematic plants." Then, sweep the powder so that it slips through the cracks! Voila - what weeds?
Drown With Darkness
Have clover and crabgrass (low-growing weeds) taken over your yard? If so, think newspaper! By simply covering these problem patches with newspaper, the lack of light will eventually kill off the weeds.
In addition, if you cover the newspaper with mulch, it will deter new weeds from growing in the future. As the newspaper decomposes, it provides extra nutrients for the soil. Happy you...happy dirt!
The Stinky Solution
Dandelions may provide a lovely pop of yellow in our yards - but, your lawn sure doesn't like when these weeds pop up! Get rid of these pretty pests by spraying them directly with white or apple cider vinegar - say goodbye to this "beautiful mess!"
Smother With Soap
Lots of pesky weeds and a hot sun are the perfect combination for this soapy solution! In a spray bottle, combine 5 tablespoons of liquid dish soap and 4 cups of water - shake gently. Spray generously on the weeds, and leave the soap and sun to work harmoniously together!
The Old Fashioned Way
And last, but certainly not least, those annoying weeds won't stand a chance against some good ol' fashioned muscle. Put on cool clothing, a shady sunhat, and some good tunes - and get pullin'! You'll get rid of those unsightly weeds, while also getting the vitamin D you've been needing. Keep in mind, a screwdriver is a fabulous tool for loosening those stubborn roots, and waiting until after a nice rainstorm will make the "pulling process" easier.
Together, we can get back to basics and reduce some of the harmful, poisonous chemicals from our planet. These weed-eliminating solutions are effective, inexpensive, and most importantly - SAFE (for your family and for Mother Earth)!
