Game shows are a blast. It is fun to watch contestants try their luck to win big. Naturally, like a casino, you know the odds of winning are in favor of the game show. Also like a casino, this means some people will try to cheat to win.
You can look back to an episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire from the United Kingdom to see how one person did it. A contestant named Charles Ingram appeared on the show, and he struggled in the first round. However, he devised a system for the next day’s taping. Ingram recruited two people in the audience to cough whenever they thought he read a correct answer. His conspiracy worked, and he walked away with the million dollar prize. Thankfully, the show’s producers caught onto the ruse, and Ingram lost his winnings in a court battle.
All of this brings us to The Price is Right. In one episode, the contestant won both of the showcases by guessing the exact amount. You can tell by Drew Carey’s face there is a suspicion the contestant somehow cheated. However, it turns out this contestant didn’t! An investigation revealed he had studied the pattern of prices appearing over numerous episodes. With the help of his wife in the audience, he was able to crunch the numbers and guess the prize amount for that episode. Incredible! It just goes to show not everyone who appears to be a cheater is actually a cheater!
