When meteorologist Kristi Gordon stepped in front of the camera to report the Vancouver weather, she had no idea the equipment in the studio would soon magnify the image of a spider crawling across the lens and depict it on the screen in a larger-than-life form.
As she looked at the screen and relayed information about temperature and weather conditions, a gigantic larger-than-life insect unexpectedly appeared on the display, seemingly approaching her position from overhead. The veteran reporter reacted in surprise and uttered a brief cry as she reflexively brushed her hair with one hand and moved away from the hovering image.
Other people in the studio reacted to the incident by reassuring the startled weather reporter and everyone in the audience that the image of the spider was not really close to the screen at all, it had simply been projected at a very magnified size from the camera lens. Kristi Gordon, appearing momentarily startled, succeeded in resuming her weather commentary after the brief interruption.
