Touching Video Shows Baby Gorilla Coming Face-To-Face With Father For The Very First Time
By Mike-Ross

You know, in the animal kingdom, dads aren't always as hands-on as human fathers when it comes to raising their little ones. Take gorillas, for example. When gorilla babies are born, they don't exactly hang out with their big, burly dads for the first couple of months. It's because their watchful mothers are worried they might get hurt. But as time goes on, these gorilla dads step up their game and become pretty crucial for stuff like making friends and weaning the youngsters off milk. Still, when they're just tiny infants, these dads tend to give them some space.
In a resurfaced video taken in 2019 at the Safaripark Beekse Bergen, a large wildlife zoo in the south of the Netherlands, we get a close up view of this family dynamic. Photographer Lieke enjoys visiting European zoos and sharing her work on YouTube, and this video certainly doesn’t disappoint! Lieke’s camera captured the first time 6-month-old baby gorilla Mies came face-to-face with her massive daddy. Just as Mies tries to get a closer look, her mother sweeps her up with a practiced flick of her leg.
Seems like the bonding between father and daughter will need to hold off for now! Check out the adorable scene in the video below, and don't forget to pass it along.
