Firefighters save a scared kitten stuck in underground pipe — thank you
By Mike-Ross

In moments of distress, animals can find themselves trapped in challenging situations, relying on the kindness of humans to come to their rescue. Fortunately, firefighters are ever ready to lend their assistance.
Such was the case when a cat became trapped inside a sizable electrical pipe, prompting a recent rescue operation by a dedicated crew from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Despite the popular notion of firefighters rescuing kittens from trees, this time they embarked on an unconventional mission, responding to a distress call concerning a kitten trapped underground on Monday.

The eight-week-old kitten was trapped in a 4″ electrical pipe. According to Gray News, a construction worker heard meowing near the scene and contacted the San Diego Humane Society, who in turn contacted the fire department along with the electric and gas company.
While no one could find the kitten at first, the responders eventually spotted the trapped kitten in the pipe and began a rescue operation.

They reportedly ran a hose on the other end of the pipe and used water to slide the kitten out of the tight spot.
According to a Facebook post from the department, the kitten was “safely rescued” and taken in to be “pampered” by the San Diego Humane Society.
The kitten was named “Cactus,” because he was found on Cactus Street. According to the San Diego Humane Society, Cactus is doing well and will soon be put up for adoption.
Imagining the fear that must have gripped the trapped kitten while stuck in the underground pipe sends shivers down our spines. The tremendous relief washes over us as we learn that Cactus, the brave little feline, is now out of harm's way. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the courageous firefighters and all the kind individuals who played a role in rescuing Cactus.
This inspiring tale deserves to be shared on social media, so be sure to spread this heartwarming story of rescue and triumph!
