Two High school sweethearts married almost 80 years celebrated their 100th birthday with special parade

Not many people on this planet can attest to knowing true love as intimately as Billy and Nellie Jones do.
This heartwarming couple has been married ever since high school, which was close to 80 years ago, and they’re every bit as fond of one another as they were back then!
Describing how they first met, Billy explained: “I said ‘Who is that?’ and ‘Oh that’s Nellie Zipperer, she’s in my class. Would you like to meet her?’ So he turned the car around and introduced me to Nellie Zipperer. The same girl as a teenager in high school and marrying and staying with her for 79 years, can’t beat that.”

The latest turn in their endearing story sees the couple – born just a few days apart in 1920 – having celebrated their 100th birthdays. As per reports, their family and friends threw them a socially distanced birthday parade.
Of the parade, Nellie said: “Very, very loved, for somebody to do all this work for us. I’m speechless, too, not speechless that they love me, but that somebody would go through all this trouble.”

When it came to offering advice as to how someone reaches such an incredible age, Billy had some simple words.
“All I know is work hard, whoever you’re working for as an employee. And go to church.”
“Love the Lord,” Nellie said.
