The Airline Didn't Let This Father Fly With His Newborn, So One Woman Decides To Take Them In
By FoxIsHere

What would you do if you just became a parent in another state, and wanted to fly home with your newborn to see and introduce her to your family—but the airline didn’t allow you on the plane with such a young baby?
Or better yet, what would you if you saw a total stranger in this situation and they needed help?
A man named Rubin Swift was in Phoenix, Arizona to pick up his newborn daughter, Ru-Andria. He was just granted custody of her and was planning to fly home to Cleveland that day with her so that he could see his family and spend some time with them.
He wasn’t aware that the airline he was flying on, Frontier Airlines, didn’t allow you to fly with a baby under seven days old, and with Ru-Andria being just four days old, he wasn’t allowed to get on the plane with her. Even though he had a note from the hospital saying Ru-Andria was clear to fly, the airline couldn’t go against their policy.
In a pickle, Rubin didn’t know what to do. But one woman named Joy Ringhofer stepped in to help.
Joy had met Rubin at the Banner University Medical Center, where Ru-Andria was born, and where she volunteers. She says they connected right away.

When Rubin was forced to stay in Phoenix, he had no one else to call, so he decided to take a leap of faith and call Joy for help. While he wasn’t expecting her to be able to help much, she went above and beyond what anyone expected.
“I didn’t expect her to say, ‘I’m coming to get you and take you home.’ So, I’m thinking, ‘She is going to drive me back to Cleveland?’ But she actually brought me to her house and [is] feeding me and making sure my baby is alright,” Rubin said.
That’s right—she took both Rubin and the little one into her home to stay until Ru-Andria was old enough to get on a plane.
“We’re two different colors and she opened up her door and it never was an issue. My color was never an issue,” Rubin said. “She loves my baby…my baby was with her all night. She stayed up with her. Who does that?”
Because of Joy’s help, Rubin was able to get home to his family in Cleveland a few days later. Of course, he promised his new lifelong friend Joy to come back and visit. After all, she’s now a special part of his daughter’s life.
“She’s fed me, she took care of me. She’s the grandmother to my child now,” Rubin said. ” She looked after me. I’m grateful.”
To hear what Joy had to say about the situation—and why it was a no brainer to let Rubin and his newborn into her home, check out the video below!
What a lovely story, and such a nice gesture! We’re so glad that Joy was able to turn a bad situation into a good one for Rubin. What would you have done in this situation?
