Music is good for many things. It sets a mood. It livens you up. And sometimes, it makes you dance. It doesn’t matter who you are, when something catchy slips into your ears, you might not be able to stop your foot from tapping. On top of that, when you’ve been dancing your whole life, you can’t help but do more than a little foot tapping—actually, you take over the show!
Dietmar and Nellia are an adorable German senior couple who have caught the internet’s eye. They attended the Horn family dance school gala, one of the best dancing schools in Austria and Europe, and boy did they get the attention of a few people.
This amazing couple has been dancing professionally for over thirty years, and they are still dancing instructors for both beginner and advanced students. It’s clear that they’ve still got a few things to offer dancers because you won’t believe how well they’re still getting down even at their age.
They were given the dance floor as the band started in on “Down the Road Apiece” by Johan Blohm and the Refreshments. They did not disappoint with their choreographed smooth moves and looked like they haven’t stopped dancing a day in their life. I didn’t know seniors could move like that!
Everyone surrounding the dance floor wasn’t quite as old as they were. They were all amazed, laughing, and mouth-open staring at how well this couple was still able to move around the floor. Dietmar, in his suave yellow suit, had no problem guiding Nellia around the floor. He tossed her between his legs. He held her just above the floor for some acrobatic and really impressive moves, and they did it all with smiles on their faces.
The crowd got out their cell phones and started recording this wildly impressive scene, and it didn’t take long for it to go viral. This loving couple goes to show that you’re never too old to get down. SwingNellia, the woman’s Youtube channel, has over 8,000 subscribers.
Users commented on this video saying things like, “Amazing! You make it look so easy!” and “Never stop dancing! Nellia and Dietmar are a twirlin’, swingin’, dance-lovin’ couple. An important reminder to never let age get in the way of doing what you love.”
Just when you think Dietmar and Nellia might be done, the crowd starts hooting and hollering. But they launch into yet another impressive 40s and 50s style dance routine! The show isn’t over yet, folks. They wow the crowd with their shaking knees and beautiful flowing spins yet again. It’s amazing what these two are capable of doing.
It’s such a pleasant image to think about Dietmar and Nellia at home working on their moves and listening to such incredible music. If I had to guess, I bet these two are set to live a long and happy life together—but that’s probably because they proved that they already are.
