A one-year-old little girl is in the hospital, fighting for her life, after ingesting “between 15 and 20” sleeping pills and going into convulsions, police say.
The horrific incident unfolded over the weekend while the little girl was staying with her parents, who are Brazilian residents, at an upscale New York City hotel.
As we try to make sense of the horrible news, every parent out there is asking the same question: “How on earth did this happen?”
According to the police reports, “Around 7 p.m., her mother looked up from a book to see her daughter ingesting between 15 and 20 sleeping pills, the report said, citing unnamed sources. The girl started having a seizure, and her parents asked the front desk to call 911.”

The New York Post reports that when police arrived, they did not wait for the ambulance. Instead, the officers drove the baby to the hospital in their patrol car “get the child to the hospital as soon as they could.”
The baby was in critical condition on life support at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Tuesday, sources said. Police are investigating the incident, but foul play was not suspected.
Unfortunately, the baby was without oxygen for several minutes, according to police, and remains on life support at Mt. Sinai Hospital as of Tuesday.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident, although no foul play is suspected at this time.
Please pray that the little girl recovers completely from her injuries.
