How To Remove The Silk And Husk From Corn In A Matter Of Seconds! (DIY)
By Mike-Ross

It can easily feel like husking and preparing corn takes twice the amount of time as it does eating it, but not anymore. After America's Test Kitchen took a good step back to think about what would make this boring process a lot faster and easier, they discovered something incredible.
If you simply use a common kitchen appliance, you will be eating delicious sweet corn in no time and without any hassle. Instead of peeling away each layer of messy silk and husk, the chef with the awesome hack does two quick things.

First, he chops off the end of the corn husk one inch above the last row of kernels. Then second, he pops it into the microwave for two to four minutes.
What this does is it allows the steam to do its magic in between the corn and the husk so that when he slides the corn out, it is completely clean and ready for cooking. It's truly incredible to think that this messy and tedious task has been reduced to two easy steps.

The chef points out that most shucking gadgets don't live up to the hype. They really aren't helpful and are a waste of money, he said.
But this simple hack relying on just the microwave is the real deal. You'll see the chef simply shake the corn on the cob right out of the husk without any silk attached. It's pretty impressive.

When he uses this method, it only takes a couple minutes, yet most of the work is completed by the microwave. It doesn't get easier than that!
Watch his quick demonstration in the video below. But just be prepared, once you see how simple it is and how perfect they look, you may just need to try it for yourself.

Enjoy the video and happy cooking!
