The popular bank, Wells Fargo has just issued a warning to all of their customers after reports show the telephone scam is going nationwide. It is the latest scam to hit the market and people are at risk of losing thousands of dollars if they fall for it.

According to a police statement, customers are receiving a recorded message, informing them that Wells Fargo has locked down their accounts and that they will need to call (855) 804-8470 to resolve the matter.

“Once a person calls this number, they again hear the original message, which then tells them to press '1.' Callers are then asked to provide their social security number, date of birth, zip code, card expiration date, a four-digit pin and street number,” reported officials.

After customers enter their information, the connection is dropped and the phone line goes dead. At this point, the scammers have all the information they need to try and steal money from the customer.

"If anybody feels threatened about their account, don't give out your information, be secure and alert of what's going on because people are hacking left and right," said Jasmine Hall, a Wells Fargo customer.
