Unfortunately, society tends to ignore the homeless situation in America. We may give a homeless person some loose change or even a couple of bills, many folks tend to stiffen up and avoid eye contact when they walk by a homeless man or woman on the street. We may internalize the excuses, such as, "I don't have any money to give." However, the sign they were holding could have been asking for a smile... if only we had bothered to look.
When is the last time you actually got to know a homeless person, and asked to hear their story? Probably never. Well, they aren't all crack addicts and low-lifes! In fact, most of them are just like you and me, and now it's their turn to be seen and heard. They are revealing interesting facts about themselves in a short video called "cardboard stories." People across the internet are reacting with shock by what these homeless people wrote down.
Some of them were very secretive at first, and tried to hide their answers. Then they revealed what they had written down and people can't believe it. From former athletes, to college grads and robot-makers, it's incredible how just a single sentence can hold so much depth... and even bring tears to your eyes.
