Mother Checks On Preemie Baby, Sees Small Blue Object On IV Pole And Burst Into Tears

Giving birth is supposed to best the best time for any parent. But when the child is born more than two months early, that excitement and joy can turn to panic as you watch your child rushed away for immediate medical care.
For Michelle and Chris Korres, that's exactly what they were forced to endure with the birth of their son, Benjamin.

Benjamin was born two months early - and after spending over a week in the hospital keeping a watch eye on their son, Chris and Michelle returned home for a good night's sleep.
When they went back to visit Benjamin in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) the following day, they noticed something strange hanging from his IV pole. A tiny blue cape with a bright red "B" was hung from the pole. As soon as Michelle saw the cape, she burst into tears!
In an interview with CVT News, Michelle explained what the tag attached to the cape said.
"To our little Superhero, love Stephanie T."
After a little digging, the couple discovered that "Stephanie T" was actually Stephanie Treherne, a NICU nurse who they had never even met!

Michelle told CVT News that they were blown away that a total stranger would do something so incredible for their son!
"We were very surprised that one of the nurses that we haven't even worked with or seen or anything yet had left that."
But when CVT News spoke to Nurse Treherne, she had a simple explanation as to why she made the cape for Benjamin.
"It represents exactly how we see the babies. These babies are super strong. They fight through so much. They're just little superheroes."
Benjamin and many of the other preemies in the NICU ward receive this tiny heartfelt gift from Stephanie and it brings joy to each and every parent.

Watching your child spend their first precious moments on Earth in the NICU is heartbreaking, but Stephanie's kind gift eases the pain - even if only for a moment.
That sense of relief and hope is exactly what Michelle told CVT News she felt when they came across Benjamin's personalized cape.
"She was very sweet. When we asked her what brought it on she just said she wanted to do something nice for the babies."
Nurses are special people and Stephanie takes their kindness to a whole different level. With a busy schedule and a lack of personal time, it's incredible to think she sat up and handmade each of these teeny, tiny capes.
