Mother and Boy Are Dining Out, Suddenly Have This Sickening Note SLAMMED on Their Table
An Idaho woman with her 10-month-old son decided to have what was probably a rare family dinner at Texas Roadhouse, one of their favorite places to dine out.
As they enjoyed their meal, two older women sitting behind them were apparently stewing with anger the entire time. At one point, one of the women slapped a note down on Katie Leach’s table that read, “Thank you for ruining our dinner with your screaming kid. Sincerely, the table behind you.”
Leach was stunned and admitted that her toddler son’s new thing was screaming with excitement, but she said it wasn’t as if he screamed through the entire meal. He was simply behaving like other children his age would, but apparently that was too much to take for the older women.
Like similar restaurants, hearing the occasional scream, clap, cry or laugh from a young child is commonplace at Texas Roadhouse restaurants, and not something that people become angry and hostile about.
“He was not yelling to be mean or because he was mad, it was purely from excitement and being happy,” Leach explained.
Leach approached the other table and tried to explain the situation, but the nasty old women weren’t having it. They compared their older grandchildren to Leach’s baby, saying they would never behave like that in public.
That’s when Leach spoke with the manager and showed him the note. The manager spoke with the women and told them they could finish their dinner but were asked to leave quietly after they were done.
“We were voted one of the loudest restaurants by Consumer Reports. We are proud to be loud. If you want to hear clinking wine glasses and clinking forks, then this probably isn’t the place for you,” Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster said, emphasizing that his restaurant was proud to host families with children.
According to Leach, the manager apologized to her for the note left by the bitter, old women and paid for her family’s meal in full, welcoming her back anytime.
