Unfortunately, people have a lot of expectations when it comes to musical instruments. For example, people instantly seem to know that if a person steps onto a stage with an electric guitar strapped over his shoulder, the music is sure to be exciting. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if a person walks out onto a stage armed with only a harmonic or an accordion, the music is predicted to be more than a little bit pathetic. Somewhere in the middle of these two extremes, you can find the cello. A cello isn’t terribly uncool, but it definitely isn’t an electric guitar. Thankfully, a new video on the Internet is rapidly changing this reality.
In the video, you see two guys take the stage with only their cellos. There is a pause as the audience takes in the sight of these two musicians. Tapping into their preconceived notions about cellos, the audience begins to boo. However, these two musicians have a surprised prepared. Instead of playing something boring, they launch into an incredible mix of music. They play a blend of “William Tell’s Overture” and “The Trooper” by Iron Maiden. The result is something incredible. The crowd loves it!
