Teacher Includes Her Students With Down Syndrome In Wedding Party, They Can’t Stop Smiling

It takes a lot to be a teacher. And those who make a career out of teaching special needs are especially gifted when it comes understanding, love and patience. But, more times than not, these teachers admit that they are inspired by their students and they learn skills that help them in other parts of their lives. Teachers teach because it is so satisfying to see children grow and learn and take certain tools with them for the rest of their lives. It’s a win-win, as the students gain skills and the teachers gain that rewarding feeling that isn’t always easy to find other chosen career fields.

One Kentucky teacher, Kinsey French, cherished her students so much that she invited them to be a part of her bridal party on her wedding day. She found it fitting since her husband, Josh, actually popped the question in front of the students who all have Down syndrome.

Luckily, the beautiful moment was captured on film. The students served as ring bearers and flower girls and they took their jobs very seriously. “They did such a wonderful job,” said French. The six students were broken up into groups of two as they walked down the aisle waving at guests and tossing flowers out of their baskets to pave the way for their beloved teacher.

“Obviously when you have kids in a wedding, you never know how it’s going to turn out, but they did such a wonderful job,” said French, who was proposed to by her husband in a gymnasium in front of a crowd of cheering students.

“I knew how important it was for Kinsey to have the kids there, and it was a no-brainer for me as well,” said Josh.

The kids genuinely seemed to enjoy being a part of the couple’s special day and it will surely be a moment that they remember forever. And Kinsey and Josh will always be able to look back on their special wedding day that may have been a bit different from the norm.

Commenters generally appreciated the teacher’s decision to have her students involved…

“Omg she is sooo nice to have them at her wedding.”

“I almost cried
