Entire Town Gets Unexpected Christmas Gift & They Found It At A Pizza Shop

Christmas is a day most of us feel blessed as we enjoy gifts and food with our loved ones. In Glencoe, Minnesota, it was a typical Christmas celebration, except this year, the entire town received an unexpected Christmas gift that they all found at a local pizza shop.
Jason Zehnder has been running Unhinged Pizza in Minnesota for 19 years. After being known for doing generous things for the community, Jason made a remarkable decision. He decided that the only way to spend Christmas was to open up his all-you-can-eat buffet of pizza for his entire town – for free.
On Christmas morning, the town’s residents lined up outside of Unhinged Pizza waiting for their turn for a meal. The donation was only made possible after Jason’s kitchen staff agreed to work unpaid, as well as several volunteers who assisted in serving the pizza. Remarkably, they served more than 300 pizzas and several trays of chicken to nearly 800 people.

“I’m happy to give up six to seven hours of my Christmas if I could just make one person’s day better, and just make their day, if they had no one to be with, or nowhere to be or no money to be there we want to help,” Jason said, according to KMSP.

Most people came for the free food, but some came solely because they had no place else to go for their Christmas dinner. Marlys Palmer, a guest at the pizza shop, explained, “We decided it would be kind of fun because a few of us don’t have a place to go for dinner, we could find places but it’s just so much fun to spend it with Jason [at Unhinged Pizza] because he’s such a nice person.”
Knowing that Christmas is about giving, not all guests arrived empty-handed, but instead brought money to donate to the hard-working staff. It was later determined that 100 percent of the donations received on Christmas would go directly to the McLeod County food shelf. By the end of the day, the donations given to the food shelf totaled $2,800.
The generosity shown by Jason and his guests shows how Christmas should be celebrated. Many of us forget the true meaning of Christmas.
