If you ever lock yourself out of your car here is what you do. Start by unlacing your shoe and taking the shoestring off completely. Then, tie it in a slipknot.
If you’re not sure how to make a slipknot the video below will show you how.
Once you have your knot, shimmy the shoelace into the crack of the door, sliding it back and forth until it reaches the lock on the door. You want the loop you made rest around the lock.
Then, tighten the knot by pulling on the ends of the shoestring you’re still holding, and then pull upwards.
This will release the lock on the door and allow you to open it up!
A slipknot is good for this trick because it can be tightened from the outside of the car.
The hardest part will be trying to get the knot loop to land exactly where you want it.
