The code is stamped onto the bottom flap of each tube of toothpaste. This is done to let a consumer know exactly what ingredients are used during manufacturing. For example, the color red means the toothpaste has both natural ingredients and additional chemicals. A black stripe appearing at the bottom of a toothpaste tube signifies the toothpaste is created entirely from chemicals.
