Girl Comes Home And Leaves A Sad Facebook Message; Moments Later, She Is Dead
By Dreamer
Recently, a 16-year-old girl posted her heartbreaking final Facebook message before taking her own life.
Those that knew Amber Cornwell are now speaking out and raising awareness that there is help for those contemplating suicide. They want to help others who feel like they want to do what Amber did.
Just hours before taking her own life, Amber updated her Facebook status with the heartbreaking words:
“If I die tonight, would anyone cry?”
Her parents and friends have since said that Amber was constantly bullied in school. And bullying might have been what pushed this North Carolina teen to commit suicide.
After returning from a date with her boyfriend in a happy mood on December 21, she posted her final message to Facebook. That night her life ended.
Her parents found Amber dead the next day. She had hanged herself in her closet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since sixth grade, Amber was struggling with bullies, her parents said. But they thought the worst was over – she was an honor roll student, a member of All County Chorus, and on the tennis team. But her bullies didn’t seem to care.
“They were really mean, they’d say stuff to her face, behind her back. They’d message her on Facebook,” Amber’s close friend Stephanie Hernandez said,.
Dozens of family and friends showed up for the candlelight vigil East Henderson High School. The school remains silent on the bullying claims and trying to keep that matter quiet.
But Amber’s friends and family are speaking up loudly about this innocent teen’s suicide.
“I don’t want another child to die because of name calling,” Mrs. Cornwell said.
