Nineteen-year-old Katie Lentd lay helpless, trapped after a drunk driver slammed into her car. As emergency responders worked desperately to free Katie, something strange happened that rescuers are calling, “The Missouri Miracle.”
As Katie tried steadily to remain calm in her car on a Missouri highway, she made one request: that the rescue team would pray out loud with her. What happened next still remains a mystery. Witnesses have the same story: during the rescue, a mysterious stranger appeared, prayed with Katie and the group, then disappeared.
Deputy Richard Adair from the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office will never forget the moment the Fire Chief looked over the scene, gravely concerned. “He was concerned because he was out of options,” Adair recalled of the Chief’s words. “The tools weren’t working, and by that time, it was almost an hour. He said, ‘I don’t know how we’re gonna get her out.'”
“I promised her mother, and [Katie] that we’d get her out,” Adair told the Chief. And then, out of nowhere, on a highway that had been blocked off from traffic for over a mile, a priest appeared. Some are calling him a guardian angel.
