Pistachios are one of the most delicious snacks ever. The best thing about the little seeds is that they not only keep your stomach busy but also your nimble fingers: Often they have to be removed from their half-open shell first. And when the bag is empty, then the pistachios are all gone and the only thing leftover is a huge pile of shells. But instead of throwing them away, you can create awesome crafts with them. Here we'll show you an example of how you can make beautiful flowers out of pistachio shells.
You'll need:
a lot of pistachio shells paint (acrylics are best) glitter glue (e.g. hot glue) magnets (to keep the decoration on your fridge) cardboard
And here's what you do:
Place the pistachio shells in a well sealed bag. A freezer bag is best in this case. Put a dash of acrylic paint and a tablespoon of water into the bag.

Then close the bag and knead it well.

Spread the wet pistachio shells on a piece of paper and sprinkle glitter over them. Then let them dry.

While the shells are still drying, take a piece of cardboard and cut a circle out of it with a diameter of about 2 inches.

Now glue the magnet on one side of the circle.

When the shells are dry, we can start with the flower. Glue four shells into the center of the round cardboard. The shells in our example are yellow but of course you can choose any color you like.

Arrange the other shells around the inner ones in a circle. And now a beautiful flower is done.
