Homemade DIY Puff Pillows Using Old Clothes

Got a bunch of old clothes lying around that you can't donate? Transform them into adorable puff pillows with the help of Creative Craft Mind! Can you believe these pillows are made entirely from scraps of old clothes? It's a simple and speedy project that lets you recycle your wardrobe into something practical and long-lasting.

Grab your old threads and basic sewing gear, and let's get started on your very own puff pillow! Check out the video tutorial below for the step-by-step instructions.

Materials:

Old clothes
Scissors
Tape measure
Fabric pen
Needle and thread
Directions:

Cut off the sleeves and neck of the old shirt.
Lay the shirt flat and measure both sides.
Fold the shirt in half, then fold it again to create a square shape.
Use a fabric pen to mark a curve on the folded shirt, then cut along the line.
You'll end up with two fabric circles.
Place the fabric circles together with the wrong sides facing out and mark a gap for stuffing.
Sew around the circle, leaving the gap open.
Flip the pillow right side out through the gap.
Stuff the pillow with filling, then sew the gap closed.
Voila! You've just turned your old clothes into a cozy puff pillow.

Step 2

Now, fill the pillow with some fabric scraps you cut from your old shirts. Sew the gap closed once you’re satisfied with the pillow’s puffiness. Put some markings on top, then sew those areas down to tuft the pillow. After this, make the cover. Place the pillow over a fabric, trace it, then cut it. Measure the fabric you just cut, get the half-measurement of it, and then use this measurement to cut another piece of fabric. (For example, if you have an 18″ circle in diameter, you’ll cut the other piece of fabric in 9″) Pin this fabric around the circle, then sew.

Step 3

Next, sew a channel on the edges, then put a rope through it. Place the pillow inside, then pull the rope on both ends to tighten the cover.
