Injured stray dog enters pharmacy in need of help, waits patiently while being treated
By Mike-Ross

Banu Cengiz, a compassionate pharmacist from Turkey, possesses an immense love for dogs that is undeniably evident.
Several years ago, she rescued her own beloved canine companion from the streets. While Banu yearns to extend the same kindness to the other stray dogs in her vicinity, regrettably, she finds herself unable to do so.

So instead of taking them all in, she provided them with a little refuge in front of her pharmacy for all the homeless pups that she can’t adopt. There, the dogs could make use of the beds, rugs, and take from the water bowl and food bowl that she placed there.
Banu did this out of the kindness of her heart – and it looks like one stray took notice and realized that there was someone out there who could help her.

The pharmacist was at work as usual when she noticed a dog outside acting strangely. Rather than lying on the beds or helping herself with the food and water provided, the pup was standing by the door waiting expectantly.
“She was looking at me,” Banu told The Dodo. “I said, ‘Baby, is there a problem?'”
The pharmacist let the dog inside and realized what the problem was – the poor stray was bleeding from a cut on her paw.

The pharmacist treated the wound with antiseptic and when it stopped bleeding, she gave the dog antibiotics. The pup seemed to understand that she was trying to help her and behaved like the perfect patient all along.
“When I was done, she laid down as if to thank me. She was saying, ‘I trust you.'” she recalled.
For the rest of the day, the pharmacy served as the dog’s recovery area where she could rest peacefully. Banu gave her food, water, and a bed to sleep in.

By closing time, the dog appeared to have regained her energy and was ready to go back to the streets. Though Banu had helped her more than most, she wished that she could do so much more.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t take her home. I’ve been dealing with street animals for years. I feed them and heal them, and help them find homes when I can,” she said.

In the meantime, the little refuge that she set up outside of her pharmacy is the best that she could do for the strays in her neighborhood.
“I do it because they feel. We need to help those who need it,” Banu said. “People should teach their children to love and respect animals and nature. Then we can all live together in a beautiful world.”
