Teen car thieves give up and scurry away after getting stumped by a stick shift
By Mike-Ross

When two teenage carjackers attempted to steal a vehicle from a gas station in Maryland, they quickly discovered that they were in over their heads. As it turns out, operating a manual transmission isn't as common among the younger generation. Fortunately, the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) caught both culprits following a brief pursuit.
Surveillance footage captured the two youths sprinting towards the car and pulling the owner out of the driver's seat. Although both of them hopped into the car, neither of them could grasp how to use the manual transmission.
After a few tense moments, the thieves realized that they were not up for the task and abandoned their plans.

The two teens, aged 16 and 17, tried to run away, but were quickly apprehended. Now they’re both facing charges of carjacking and conspiracy carjacking. They are currently in jail without bond.
