Cop ‘arrests’ stray cat found on duty, then adopts her

It’s a police officer’s duty to look out for everyone in their community, whether they be human or animal. It’s always inspiring to see officers go above-and-beyond to help creatures in need.

That was the case recently, after one police officer made an “arrest” that led to a heartwarming friendship.

On February 8, the Janesville Police Department, in Wisconsin, shared an announcement on social media that a “suspect was captured and arrested.”

But the “suspect” was actually an adorable stray cat, picked up off the street by Janesville PD Officer Feirn. The department punningly joked that she had been arrested for “feline-y.”

The officer checked the cat for a microchip, but she didn’t have one. The department wrote that she was taken to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin, where anyone interested could “post bond” (aka, adopt the cat.)

And in a heartwarming update, the department announced that this law-breaking cat did in fact find a home… with the same officer who “arrested” her.

On March 23, the Janesville Police Department wrote that the cat, now named Maple after the tree she was found under, would be “serving her time on house arrest” with Officer Feirn. The two have formed an adorable bond.

“Maple can’t wait for Officer Feirn to come home from his shift and will immediately climb up on his shoulder, which turns out to be her favorite place to take a catnap,” the department wrote.

“She’s currently under strict supervision, but we’re happy to say she’s got a purrrfect life ahead of her.”

Thank you to Officer Feirn for adopting this sweet cat! Please sharet his adorable story!
