Little boy holds hand of crying friend with Autism so they won’t be scared at school

It can be difficult to maintain trust in humanity in this day and age, when it feels like so much of basic human decency has been forgotten. On some days, it seems as if the world’s injustices go unchecked, especially in a time when society is more divided than ever. Even the tiniest acts of kindness and compassion can have a huge impact during these times.

Courtney Coko Moore was touched when her son, Christian, made that impact. Christian saw his friend Connor, who is diagnosed with autism, crying in a corner and decided to console him. Courtney shared the following story on Facebook where it quickly went viral.

During the first day back to school, Christian saw that his classmate Connor was having trouble adjusting. Connor was walled up in a corner, crying alone, unable to deal with his feelings. When Christian noticed this, he approached his friend, consoled him, and then held his hand as he walked him into school.

Courtney said on Facebok: “I’m so proud of my son, he seen a kid balled up into a corner crying, so he went to console him, grabbed his hand and walked him inside of the school! It is an honor to raise such a loving, compassionate child! He’s a kid with a big heart, the first day of school started off right.”

Connor’s mom, April, wrote back to thank Courtney and her caring son. “Tell your son I said thank you so very much! That little boy he helped is my son and is autistic, I worry everyday that he is going to get bullied for being different and your son just absolutely warmed my heart. If there were more children like him I wouldn’t worry about such things.”
