On a pleasant Monday afternoon, Anton Montgomery was lounging on the couch and watching TV and browsing his phone.
Out of nowhere, Anton looked up and saw a small stranger staring back at him. It was a 7-year-old Down syndrome child named Destiny Arzola.
Destiny had managed to get lost while at school and ended up a few blocks away outside Anton’s home. She just opened his back door and walked right in.
Startled, Anton jumped from the couch to make sure the little girl was OK. He took her hand and carefully guided her back to school, capturing the startling incident on his phone with a video. Anton, who is a father himself, was enraged with the school and demanded explanations.
The employees at the school, which was several blocks away, confirmed that Destiny was a pupil there and thanked Anton for bringing her back. Destiny’s mother was horrified when she learned what happened, but so grateful Destiny found a kind man who was concerned for her welfare.
Anton spoke publicly about the school administrators, and he never expected their reaction.
