Loving community buys baker’s whole inventory daily so he can care for sick wife
By Mike-Ross

Donut City, a doughnut shop in Seal Beach, California, has been owned by John Chan and his wife Stella for the past 30 years. Since their 1979 arrival as refugees from Cambodia in California, John and Stella have been hard at work making delicious baked goods for their community.
Customers of Donut City grew accustomed to buying their morning doughnuts and coffee from the loveable couple who always worked behind the counter side-by-side as the years went on.
Then one day Stella wasn’t behind the counter, and the customers noticed.

It turns out that Stella had suffered a debilitating aneurysm. She was lucky to have survived, but it would take many weeks of rehabilitation and hard work before she could return. All John wanted was to support his wife, but their livelihood depended on the bakery.
As loyal customers learned about the situation they offered to set up a GoFundMe, but John refused their charity.
Unwilling to see John and Stella suffer this hardship alone, members of the community developed a support plan that John couldn’t refuse. Every day, several loyal customers would arrive and purchase every last donut in the store!
It wasn’t long before the community’s outpour support quickly went viral. Watch the full video by Inside Edition below to learn more about this incredible act of kindness.
