Melissa Dohme was just 20-years-old when she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend in Clearwater, Florida. After stabbing her 32 times, he left her to bleed out and fled. Against all odds, Melissa survived.
One of the first responders who helped save her life was firefighter-paramedic Cameron Hill. Over the course of her incredibly long recovery, Melissa eventually met Cameron again at a local church function.
The two quickly formed a connection and fell in love.
Three years later Melissa’s ex-boyfriend, Robert Lee Burton Jr., began serving a life sentence in prison while Melissa found herself throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game.
She had no idea her life was about to change forever when Cameron walked out to meet her on the field and dropped to one knee.
