5-year-old who had gone missing since September, unfortunately found dead in river – rest in peace

5-year-old Lucian Munguia was beloved by his family and friends. On September 10th, 2022, little Lucian was at a playground with his dad and younger siblings in Sarg Hubbard Park in Yakima, Washington.

This is where he was last seen alive. A search for Lucian immediately began when the family, friends, and community all showed up in order to search for the little boy but all in vain.
On December 29, 2022, authorities reported to calls about human remains in the Yakima River. The remains found were taken to be autopsied and identified.
On December 30th, authorities compared dental records and concluded the remains belonged to five-year-old Lucian Munguia. According to a statement issued by the Yakima Police Department, additional DNA testing will be carried out to fully confirm the identity of the human remains found.

According to the preliminary autopsy, the police have said in their statement that there is “no indication of criminal acts.”
According to a Facebook group dedicated to finding little Lucian, the little boy was non-verbal autistic and had a soft spot for sea creatures.
Just a few days before his remains were discovered, his mother posted on a Facebook group dedicated to finding the missing 5-year-old. She posted on Christmas, talking about how much she missed her little boy, she wrote, “Christmas isnt so Merry without you.”

A vigil for little Lucian is being organized on the 7th of January followed by a celebration of life ceremony on the 14th of January.
