Angelina Gonsalves has missed her husband Johnny every days since he passed away six years ago, and the holidays are particularly hard. This year she received a special surprise from the Pittsburgh post office.
Angelina and Johnny spent 61 joyful years together and helped raise five sons. “I loved him dearly and he was quite a guy. I still feel his presence, I really do,” Angelina said of her late husband in an interview with CBS Boston.
She also mentioned that Christmas particularly special for their family. “It was just a funny feeling, he was around us at Christmas time. One of his favorite times of the year.”

This year Angelina couldn’t believe it when she received a letter from Johnny… almost 80 years after he sent it. The letter was written while Johnny was serving his country during WWII. It was originally addressed to his mother and written long before he ever met Angelina, but she couldn’t have been happier to receive it.
“I love it. I love it. When I think it’s all his words, I can’t believe it. It’s wonderful. And I feel like I have him here with me, you know?” she said.
“Give my love to the family in regards to all,” she read from the letter.
“Take care, love and kisses your son Johnny. I’ll be seeing you soon I hope.”
Post office employees discovered the lost letter in their office and admitted it should have been delivered long ago. Watch the full new story below to learn more about this incredible holiday gift!
