Pantera Mayhill felt a series of headaches and dry mouth due to her being thirsty. All of a sudden, a dark ring appeared on her neck.
Her mom thought it was simply dirt. But she realized that it was something else all together. When they went to see a doctor, they were told the ring was from a lack of insulin.
The lack of insulin meant that Pantera had type-2 diabetes. The dark ring is a result of elevated insulin levels in the body and that was the reason for the dark discoloration on her neck.
Type-2 diabetes is much more serious in kids than it is in adult, and could lead to severe health problems if it isn't checked and treated.
Pantera Mayhill is now taking insulin injections for better health and her progress is going very great.
