Father is fighting for his life with COVID-19 after son ignored pleas and socialized without wearing a mask

Michelle Zymet says she told her stepson not to go socializing with his friends and to always wear a mask.
She was worried for her husband who is overweight and diabetic, but her son ignored her pleas and went out to dinner with friends, removing his mask off to eat and drink.
Soon after he believed he had a cold and then found out a friend he’d been out with had tested positive for covid-19.
Now Michelle blames her stepson for bringing the virus home and infecting them all.

Her husband, 42-year-old John Place, is suffering the worst effects and is in intensive care.
“He’s fighting for his life literally every single minute in that hospital,” Michelle said, as per the Mirror newspaper.

Michelle says her stepson’s 14-year-old brother, 6-year-old sister and herself all showed symptoms and tested positive but only dad John was admitted to hospital and has been there for three weeks.
“You let your guard down just one time, it’s all it takes. You come home, and you infect the entire house,” added Michelle.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for the medical bills of John who runs a photobooth business which has been struggling since March and “money has been tight for this family of 5 and now this,” the page reads.
Florida is currently the hotspot for COVID infections in the U.S. with 350,000 confirmed cases.
Gatherings of young people have been a key factor in the rise according to a meeting of South Florida mayors, as per the Orlando Sentinel.
