Cops gives mom an earful after she leaves kids in locked car with no AC

Police in Vancouver, Canada responded to multiple calls about small children left alone in a locked car with no air conditioning.
Concerned citizens saw 6-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy trapped inside their mother’s vehicle parked outside a grocery store. Sitting in the bright sun, the car’s interior temperature began quickly rising.
The video below, which has since gone viral, was taken after the mother returned to her car to find police waiting for her.
“Do you understand what you’ve done? Your children could have died,” the irate officer can be heard yelling at the mother.
The mother attempts to defend her neglect, but the officer quickly cuts her off saying “No, you don’t seem to understand the danger you’ve put these children into. Listen to me. You’re talking when you should be listening. Your children could have died. The windows were up, it’s hot out.”
No charges were filed against the mother, but Canada’s Ministry of Children and Family Development has been asked to conduct a formal investigation.
Vancouver police Chief Adam Palmer spoke with the press after the video went viral. He called the responding officer a highly respected member of the police department” and a “hard-working, dedicated officer” according to the Vancouver Sun. “I know that he has children of his own and you have to remember that police officers are just people,” said Palmer. “We’re all human beings and everyone may react slightly differently to every set of circumstances and he was trying to convey to the woman the seriousness of what she’d done to the children.”
