These Hikers get rare sighting of an Owl swimming inside a canyon
By Mike-Ross

Derrick Zuk and some of his friends were out hiking through a canyon in Lake Powel. They had no idea their hiking trip would be so rare.
Derrick and his friends came across an owl… swimming.
According to National Geographic, they believe the owl is a great-horned owl that still has some of its nestling feathers. Seeing an owl swim is VERY unusual. Owls have no way of defending themselves against predators while in the water. Owls can’t take flight while swimming, and they also have to wait until their feathers are dry before flying.
Great-horned owls will often roost on the edges of cliffs. So it’s possible the owl fell from a nest into the canyon. Fear not though, Derrick and his friends went back to the same spot they had left the owl, and it was nowhere to be found. It most likely managed to take flight again.
