These young ladies refer to themselves as “Ed Sheeran’s Galway Girls” and they’re from Galway on the west coast of Ireland. They’re doing a wonderful stepdance to the tune of “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran of course.
Just look at the way they move!
Irish Stepdance is a type of performance and it’s deeply rooted in Irish dancing culture. It’s mostly known for the way the upper body remains rather still while the dancer engages their legs and feet in extremely complicated choreography.
Most folks might recognize it as “Riverdance,” which was popularized by Michael Flatley. Riverdance was an act that helped bring Irish Stepdancing to the world stage.
Fun fact: They sometimes use shoes similar to ballet slippers and sometimes they use something akin to tap shoes. I know I didn’t know that.
