9 Autistic Students Hit The Stage, Once It Was Over, The Crowd Was Covered In Tears
By FoxIsHere

Talented people are everywhere. Just look at the job market for a vivid example. Companies are clawing at each other to get the most talented college graduates and skilled workers. Because unemployment is at a low rate, people have a choice about where they want to work for the first time in a decade or so. And when it comes to dance and other creative ventures, talent continues to be as impressive as ever.
Although dance groups and other performers continue to be utterly amazing, it takes a lot to impress judges on talent shows who have seen it all. There is a show that airs on the BBC called The Greatest Dancer. As the name of the program describes, the judges on the show see some of the country and world’s greatest dancers.

When a group called AWA took their spot in center stage, the judges were prepared to see something amazing. The dancers had made it as far as they had and were great at what they do. But when the judges learned that AWA stood for Autism with Attitude, they could not help but get even more excited to see what these dancers could bring to the table.
The host of the show is Alesha Dixon, a singer, gets to be there as hard-working and talented performers get to show off their abilities and get discovered. But few performers deliver a performance that is both as good as what AWA did and how well they did it with heart.
Dancers and groups in the show are competing against each other to win the chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing. And if they win, they could win the equivalent of $65,000 and go a long way to giving their career a super boost.

The show depends a lot on the audience’s reaction to the dancers. 75 percent of the audience members, which is a large majority, have to vote that they liked the performance. If the dancers get that much of a clap on the back, then the Secret Mirror opens up, which gives the dance group access to the next stage in the competition, making them one step closer to achieving their dance dreams.
Although the show has featured dancers from all types of styles and genres, they had yet to have a group of dancers all with autism work together to create a memorable and wonderful performance. These performers impressed the audience so much with their dance routine that the Secret Mirror opened up and they were welcomed on to the next stage in the competition. The dancers of AWA could not have been prouder and happier to have accomplished their goal.

All the dancers in AWA attend the same dance school and study under teacher Jonathan. And when one of their moms was asked about the group and what it hopes to achieve, she started to tear up when she said:
“They just want to prove to everyone that, regardless of your abilities and your capabilities, that you can achieve anything.”
And AWA certainly proved that.
