13-Year-Old Gives Up His Xbox, Does Work In The Yard To Purchase Car For His Single Mother
Teens are often at the center of negative press and those of us that have made it through our teenage years view teens as troublesome.
But there are so many teenagers out there setting a great example for others. Even adults could learn a thing or two from them.
In Nevada a 13-year-old has hit the headlines after selling his prized video game system and doing odd jobs for others to raise some extra cash.
But this kind-hearted young man didn’t spend the cash on himself — he wanted to help someone in greater need, someone close to his heart.
William Preston gave his mom the surprise of his life when he gifted her with a new car she so desperately needed, KOLO reports.
The sweet teen noticed that his mom was struggling to raise him and his two siblings as well as their three dogs and all without a vehicle.
“I saw on YouTube where people get their mom a car and then surprise her with it,” William explained to the news station. “I wanted to do that.”
He noticed a post on Facebook advertising a 1999 Chevrolet Metro car for sale and thought he could buy it for his mom.
“It was really cheap so I asked her (the woman selling the car) if I could trade it for my Xbox or earn it,” William said. “At first she said no and after she thought about it, then she said yes.”
When William surprised his mom with the new car, first she didn’t believe him and then she was overwhelmed.
“I lost it, I bawled, I was just like, there’s no way,” Krystal Preston said.
“The fact that my kid did this, I’m proud, but as a mom I’m supposed to be able to take care of my kids, I’m supposed to do this, not the other way around,” she said. “What 13-year-old buys their mom a car?
“I can’t even express it; there are no words that can express my gratitude and how proud I am,” the mother said.
